Position Overview  The Afterschool Program Assistant works closely with the Afterschool Manager, Academic Coordinators, and Family Engagement Coordinator to support a variety of program needs, including but not limited to completing administrative tasks, enrolling and withdrawing students from Afterschool and Animate Summer Academy   programming, compiling and tracking student data and providing on-site afterschool and summer academy staffing support.    


Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with the Afterschool Manager in completing administrative tasks for the Afterschool program.  
  • Work with the Academic Coordinators to support math and reading testing of students including tracking and compiling data. 
  • Enroll and withdraw students from the Afterschool program and Animate Summer Academy and keep staff informed of these changes.  
  • Support and substitute at afterschool sites as needed including monitoring student progress and providing regular feedback to the Afterschool Manager. 
  • Complete at least two afterschool site visits a week to maintain relationships with staff and students.  
  • Support and substitute at Animate Summer Academy as needed including providing regular feedback to the Afterschool Manager. 
  • Support the Family Engagement Coordinator in communicating with families as needed. 

 

Duties

  • Strong collaboration with the office in supporting students, parents, and location staff. 
  • Attend mandatory program meetings and trainings as scheduled throughout the year. 
  • Regularly input and report measurables into EOS model database.   
  • Assist in identifying, attracting and retaining students through enthusiasm for and promotion of LaAmistad Afterschool. 
  • Support the collection and input of data for all Afterschool sites. 
  • Effectively respond to stakeholder inquiries, questions, and comments. 
  • Prepare and distribute program documentation and details. 
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
  • Regularly input and update student record information in Salesforce.   


Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish and English (writing, listening and speaking).  
  • High school diploma or GED.  
  • Minimum of one year working on administrative tasks.  
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPT). 
  • Able to cultivate and build community relationships and partnerships. 
  • A heart for service and community. 
  • Solution-orientated and able to problem-solve.   
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently. 
  • Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines. 
  • Good communication, planning, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to build relationships with volunteers, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds to create a dynamic environment for students to learn and thrive. 
  • Must provide your own laptop. 
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.  
  • Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to daily carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds. 


Desired Skills and Attributes  

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.  
  • Minimum of one year working with school-age youth, ages 5-11.   
  • Ability to confidently lead a group of adults or children. 
  • Knowledge/experience working with the LatinX community.  



Work Environment

This role requires an active in-person presence across program sites. Candidates should be comfortable with:

  • Traveling regularly to locations throughout Metro Atlanta
  • Standing, walking, and moving between sites as needed
  • Lifting and carrying materials up to 30 pounds
  • Supporting a fast-paced, dynamic program environment
