Job Description

Provides effective and high level of maintenance service to equipment, and mechanical system support. Responsible for managing and controlling the corrective, preventative, predictive maintenance for mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment. Ensures, within all regulatory agency requirements, that buildings equipment is maintained in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition to provide an appropriate environment for the wellbeing of patients, visitors, and staff. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

  • 10 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of plant electrical, mechanical or instrument equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project management
  • Previous maintenance work experience in a healthcare environment
  • Experience managing mechanical and administrative planned maintenance duties

Education

  • Associate degree, or five years of supervisory experience

Certification Summary

  • Valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation
  • Experience in planning maintenance operations
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems
  • Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, word processing programs. 
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, use reasoning logic and communicate with the individuals who installed the system.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, involving frequent changes of tasks which require different aptitudes, technologies, procedures, working conditions without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Ability to manage a budget

  • Ability to drive and operate Children's vehicles

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating and driving Children's vehicles throughout the organization as needed and to specified vendors or sites based on operational needs.

  • Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues.
  • Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.
  • Implements and maintains preventative maintenance program, ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Overseeing equipment stock and placing orders for new supplies when necessary.
  • Maintains accurate, legible records/logs of all work/rounds made in mechanical rooms and has a thorough knowledge of the major building systems operations and valve locations.
  • Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance work orders service requests using CMMS.
  • Assigning repair schedules and evaluating repair cost estimates.
  • Documenting and preparing daily progress reports and maintenance logs.
  • Meet all in-service requirements, complies with all system policies and procedures, and understands and complies with infection control, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
  • Maintains the computer maintenance system and develops all management and Safety Committee reports.
  • Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team, including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
