Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on generators of all types.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in generator systems.
  • Conduct load testing and diagnostics on engine generator systems.
  • Service generator controllers, engine components, fuel management systems, transfer switches, and associated equipment.
  • Maintain detailed service records and documentation.
  • Support emergency power readiness and respond to generator-related issues.
  • Collaborate with other trades on facility power system projects.
Qualifications and Special Requirements:
  • Each engine generator mechanic must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in maintenance, repair, and operations of both the electrical and mechanical components of engine generator systems, including generator controllers, engine components, and fuel management systems.
  • Each engine generator mechanic must have a two-year degree for emergency generators/generator technicians or EGSA certification for generator technician or factory training from two or more major manufacturers of commercial/industrial generators. Any factory training must be within the last two years, prior to the SIR's release date.
