Summary of Position

The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of beverages while delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves engaging with guests, ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area. The position is on-call, requiring flexibility and availability based on business needs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Excellent communication and customer skills, ability to interact confidently and professionally with guests and colleagues.
  • Strong ability to multi-task, attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain cleanliness and order in bar settings
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and follow instructions closely
  • Extensive knowledge of different types of beverages, including cocktails, wines, and spirits, as well as mixing techniques and garnishes.
  • Work varying schedules that include evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience required
  • Previous experience as a bartender in a hotel, restaurant, or hospitality setting required
  • TIPS or similar certification for responsible alcohol service is a plus

Duties and Responsibilities

Beverage Preparation:

· Mix and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, beers, wines, and spirits, according to established recipes and standards.

· Prepare garnishes and ensure proper glassware is available.

· Stock and maintain adequate supplies of bar items, including ice, mixers, and liquors.

Customer Service:

· Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.

· Take orders, make recommendations, and provide excellent customer service.

· Check customer identification to ensure they meet the legal drinking age.

· Handle cash transactions and operate the cash register.

· Collaborate with other members of the Showboat team, including servers, kitchen staff, and management, to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.

Bar Maintenance:

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including proper storage of beverages, glassware, and bar tools.

· Wash and sterilize glassware and other serving equipment.

· Monitor and control inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed and minimizing waste to optimize efficiency and profitability.

· Report any equipment problems or bar maintenance issues.

Other Duties:

· Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines, including responsible alcohol service practices, to ensure the well-being of our guests and staff.

· Adhere to all local and national liquor laws.

· De-escalate intoxicated guest situations.

· Assist other bar staff as needed.

· Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge of beverages and hospitality trends.

· Performs other related duties as assigned by Floor Manager and/or Executive Chef.
