About the Role:
The Wellness Services Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Fitness Center, Wellness Program, and personal training services. This role promotes a welcoming, customer-focused environment that encourages healthy, active lifestyles while supporting the goals and objectives of the department.
This role plays a strong commitment to understanding and embracing the Poarch Creek Indians Values of Perseverance, Opportunity, Accountability, Respect, Culture, and Honesty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Fitness Center, wellness, and personal training operations.
  • Lead, train, mentor, and supervise Wellness Services staff and Personal Trainers.
  • Develop and evaluate fitness, wellness, and community programs.
  • Oversee member orientations, assessments, wellness incentives, and initiatives.
  • Ensure facility safety, cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and daily operations.
  • Manage wellness records, reports, budgets, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve member concerns.
  • Promote wellness education and outreach throughout the Tribal community.
  • Assist with scheduling, meetings, and departmental operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Core Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Medicine, Health Education, Nutrition Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Three (3) years of related employment experience in a fitness setting and/or wellness program required.
  • Two (2) years of experience training clients one-on-one and/or group sessions required.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory, lead worker, program coordination, or staff leadership experience required.
  • Experience developing wellness programs, fitness challenges, educational seminars, and community wellness events required.
  • Certified Personal Trainer required. Certified in any (1) of the following: AAPTE-Academy of Applied Personal Training Education, AFAA-Aerobics & Fitness Association of America, ACE-American Council on Exercise, ACSM-American College of Sports Medicine, CI-Cooper Institute, IFPA-International Fitness Professionals Association, ISSA-International Sports Sciences Association, NASM-National Academy of Sports Medicine, NCCPT-National Council for Certified Personal Trainers, NCSF-National Council of Strength and Fitness, NESTA-National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association, NETA-National Exercise Trainers Association, NFPT-National Federation of Personal Trainers, NSCA-National Strength and Conditioning Association, TWCC-Training Wellness Certification Commission, Crossfit, POT CCP, Strong First, Russian Kettlebell Certification, Functional Movement Screen, USA Weight Lifting, NAFC- Native American Fitness Council.
  • Must possess First Aid Certification, including CPR and Life Saving, or obtain certification within ninety (90) days of official date of hire in this position.
  • Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain during the first week of employment.
  • Must possess “ServSafe Certification” or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
Essential Competencies:
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, fitness training, exercise safety, and nutrition.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible/irregular hours, attend events and training, and travel as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record required.
  • Must pass required criminal and character background checks.
  • Ability to perform all essential duties of the position.
