About the Role:

The Journeyman Electrician plays a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings. This position requires a thorough understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices to ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently. The Journeyman Electrician will collaborate closely with project managers, apprentices and foremen to complete projects on time and within budget. This role demands a high level of technical skill and problem-solving ability to diagnose electrical issues and implement effective solutions. Ultimately, the Journeyman Electrician ensures that electrical systems operate reliably and safely, contributing to the overall success and safety of construction and maintenance projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license for the State of Michigan
  • Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with specialized electrical systems such as HVAC controls, fire alarm systems, or renewable energy installations.
  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 30 safety training or first aid/CPR.
  • Experience working in both commercial and industrial electrical environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Ability to supervise and train Apprentice Electricians

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures according to relevant codes and standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and specifications to determine the layout of electrical systems.
  • Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with clients to provide updates and resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during all phases of work.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
