Overview

The Account Manager is a strategic key member of the Celanese Engineered Materials Americas Sales Team and reports to the Regional Sales Director. This role is responsible for driving revenue and volume growth within the America’s Automotive business unit, with a strong emphasis on managing and growing strategic, complex customer accounts. Success in this position is defined by achieving sales and profitability targets, building a robust opportunity pipeline, and effectively leading multi-level customer relationships within large Tier organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive revenue and volume growth to meet or exceed Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets within the assigned territory and strategic accounts.
  • Develop and execute account and territory strategies, prioritizing new business development while expanding share within existing customers.
  • Build, qualify, and actively manage a robust opportunity pipeline to support sustained short- and long-term growth.
  • Serve as the regional lead account manager for select large, complex automotive Tier customers, navigating matrixed organizations and aligning technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships across all levels of customer organizations, including senior leadership, to position Celanese as a strategic partner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Salesforce (SFDC) data, including account plans, relationship maps, call reports, and opportunity tracking.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Celanese product performance and value propositions; collaborate closely with Product Business Teams and Development Engineers to maximize value creation.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment internally to support customer strategies and ensure successful execution.
  • Champion the commercialization of new materials, applications, and innovations with key automotive customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of commercial experience in strategic account management or a related sales role.
  • Experience supporting automotive OEMs and/or Tier suppliers within the chemicals, plastics, or materials space.
  • Proven ability to manage complex accounts and influence across multiple levels of customer and internal organizations.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to engage credibly in senior-level customer discussions and represent Celanese in strategic forums.
  • Demonstrated success in contract negotiation and commercial deal execution.
  • Strong business acumen with a customer-focused, value-driven mindset.
  • High level of ownership, organization, and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50%.
