Role Overview
As a Lead Shipping and Receiving Coordinator, you will help drive the daily flow of materials into, within, and out of the facility while supporting accurate, safe, and timely logistics operations. In this hands-on leadership role, you will coordinate freight activity, assist with shipping and receiving responsibilities, and serve as a key resource for troubleshooting logistics-related questions. You will also train and mentor S/R Specialists, support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, and promote standardized work across the team. This role is ideal for someone with logistics or supply chain experience who is organized, safety-focused, and motivated to help keep operations running smoothly.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Operational Oversight & Execution
Actively oversee and participate in the movement of materials into, within, and out of the facility to ensure timely and accurate material flow.
Perform all job functions associated with the S/R Specialist role, as needed, to support operational continuity.
Coordinate truckload freight arrangements by developing freight requirements, requesting quotes from approved carriers, analyzing carrier proposals, and scheduling loads.
Partner with Purchasing to create and manage freight-related purchase orders.
Leadership, Training & Mentorship
Support and assist S/R Specialists and other JR team members in resolving logistics-related issues.
Assist in developing training materials for S/R Specialists and Lead S/R Specialist role
Provide hands-on training and guidance to S/R Specialists and other Leads on job responsibilities, procedures, and best practices.
Mentor logistics team members while modeling positive behavior, professionalism, and a strong team-focused attitude.
Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives
Participate in and promote Lean and Six Sigma initiatives related to Shipping and Receiving.
Identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance efficiency, safety, accuracy, and throughput.
Support the implementation of standardized work and best practices across logistics operations.
Subject Matter Expertise
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the following areas:
International shipping
Truckload freight arrangements
Information systems (Ops Manager, Job Track, Baan)
Material handling equipment usage and safety
Act as a key point of contact for logistics process knowledge and troubleshooting.
Safety & Equipment Operation
Safely operate overhead cranes, hi-lo (forklift) equipment, and other material handling equipment as required.
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis as part of daily job duties.

What You’ll Bring:
3+ years in a business environment; 2 or more years of logistics, materials management, or supply chain experience preferred.
Logistics, Material Management or Supply Chain experience preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proven ability to accept direction and complete tasks as assigned while working as part of a team or individually.
Ability to obtain a Hi-Lo (Forklift) and Overhead Crane license while employed at JR
High school diploma, or equivalent certification; college preferred.
