The Senior Buyer – Logistics Capex job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and lead the sourcing strategy and procurement process for logistics-related capital equipment
- Manage end-to-end RFQ (Request for Quotation) activities, including bid package development, supplier evaluations, cost analysis, and award recommendations
- Negotiate commercial terms, long-term agreements, service contracts, warranties, and cost‑reduction opportunities with global suppliers
- Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO), cost breakdowns, and supplier proposals to support business case development
- Partner with internal stakeholders to define technical requirements, timelines, and project budgets
- Oversee supplier performance, contract compliance, delivery schedules, and risk mitigation for assigned Capex projects
- Ensure adherence to internal purchasing policies, financial controls, Capex approval processes, and compliance guidelines
- Track project milestones, report status to leadership, and support phase‑gate and launch readiness activities
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure innovation, cost competitiveness, and reliable delivery
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field
- 5 years of purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience (preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment)
- Experience managing Capex procurement or purchasing transportation equipment, machinery, or automation systems
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and financial acumen skills
- Experience with RFQs, cost analysis, contracts, and supplier management
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and equipment requirements
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and purchasing tools
- Strong communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (MBA or Engineering discipline)
- 8+ years of purchasing experience in automotive OEM or tier‑one manufacturing
- Experience in global sourcing and supplier negotiations across multiple regions
- Certification such as CPSM, CPIM, PMP, or Six Sigma
- Understanding of total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling and cost‑engineering practices
- Experience supporting launch programs or greenfield/brownfield plant logistics projects
