The Stamping Equipment Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support throughout the planning, designing, specifying, installing, launching, and supporting the equipment used in the stamping pressroom of an automotive manufacturing facility. Their main focus is on the machinery that shapes metal parts (like body panels) through stamping processes. This role ensures that all purchased capital equipment complies with FCA US LLC, state, and federal standards and regulations as well as Safety standards.

 

The ideal candidate can track equipment build progress, timing, and costs, and resolve equipment issues from the design phase through startup. The Engineer also manages equipment documentation, software, and final deliverables including the transition of equipment to FCA US LLC stamping plants.

This role is critical in ensuring that the pressroom operates efficiently, safely, and produces high-quality stamped components for automotive assembly.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, select, and specify stamping pressroom equipment (such as presses, feeders, conveyors, and automation systems).
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance and process efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Prepare technical documentation, equipment specifications, and maintenance procedures.
  • Manage projects related to equipment upgrades, modifications, or new installations.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain equipment engineering standards and design specifications to support standardization objectives.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school degree or GED and 3 years of experience in engineering or a related technical field
  • Ability to work and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong oral, written, presentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to translate technical data and analysis into an executive summary format for presentation in easily understandable formats
  • Knowledge of advanced problem-solving skills and ability to manage data analysis to identify root causes and attack them to closure
  • Knowledge of cost studies and strategic planning
  • Microsoft Office intermediate or advance knowledge

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field)
  • 8 years of experience with stamping pressroom equipment and processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills specific to Supplier Stamping equipment
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
  • Familiarity with CAD software 2D & 3D and equipment layout planning
