Maintenance Technician
Orion Plant – Auburn Hills, MI
 
As a member of the Maintenance team, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated production equipment. This position diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, and computer‑controlled systems, executes preventive maintenance, and supports production teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of machinery. 

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automated manufacturing systems
  • Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and blueprints
  • Perform preventative maintenance per schedules and standards
  • Support production teams
  • Support startup, commissioning, and validation of new or modified equipment
  • Follow all safety, OSHA, and plant procedures, including lockout/tagout.
  • Dismantle mechanical devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Maintain, install, and repair electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and diagnose/repair malfunctions
  • Make approved modifications to machinery and equipment to meet production needs
  • Repair or replace defective parts
  • Lubricate and clean parts
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Set up and operate mill, lathe, drill press, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts
  • Install new machinery and equipment as directed
  • Fabricate approved fixturing for production use

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs or ladders, bending/crouching.
  • The ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Working at heights when needed

Your Qualifications:

  • 3+ Years experience in the manufacturing maintenance field
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical 
  • Problem Solving
  • Ability to work independent and a part of a team
  • Able to work overtime and weekends
  • Experience in automotive production and high-volume manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of electrical/ mechanical/ computer systems work
  • Proficiency with industrial automation language
  • Experience using diagnostic tools
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Technical or Associate Degree in Mechatronics, Automation Technology, Industrial maintenance, Electronics or related field.
  • Certifications (Lockout tagout)
  • Licenses (forklift)

Bonus If You Have:

  • Experience with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa)
  • Experience with HMI systems and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, etc.)
  • Knowledge of safety standards (machine safety, guarding, interlocks)
  • Lean / TPM experience
  • Journeymen’s Card
