Position Summary: The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, and services for an organization. The role involves verifying contract and purchase order compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Buyers also track purchases, monitor vendor quality, and maintain a database of supplier information. They often participate in cross-functional projects to improve efficiency, profitability, and customer service. Additionally, they may oversee financial analyses related to departmental budgets and recommend improvements to procurement strategies This role requires strong technical proficiency, analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills to collaborate across departments and with external vendors. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing both daily tasks and strategic projects that drive company performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •    Act as a liaison between Maine Oxy and Hardgoods vendors (Lincoln, Miller, ESAB, etc.). •    Coordinate with vendors and internal management for returns, damaged items, and other critical issues. •    Order, track, and manage hardgoods for all areas throughout the organization. •    Maintain and update vendor pricing in TIMS. •    Ability to evaluate supplier performance and reliability. •    Addresses procurement challenges effectively and escalates issues.  •    Manage the blanket order process and Demo items from vendors. •    Oversees purchase orders and ensuring timely delivery of goods. •    Managing stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory. •    Maintain the Vendor Price List and contacts on SharePoint. QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: •    Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word are preferred •    Ability to manage multiple projects and participate in driving to timely completion •    Understanding of the purchasing processes, supplier management, and logistics •    Able to communicate with internal teams and external vendors •    Strong analytical, problem solving, written and verbal skills •    Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across departments Education: •    Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field (preferred). •    Previous experience in a purchasing or buyer role will be considered  Physical Requirements: •    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, speak, and hear. •    Frequent sitting, standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; may stoop, kneel, or crouch. •    Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Comments: These responsibilities are not intended to be all inclusive, and this position may also be asked to perform other duties as assigned by management.
