General Functions:

Under the direction of the Early Learning Center Childcare Director, the Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate program in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a quality program that is within the guidelines set forth by the center and all governing bodies.

Some Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

  • Develop and implement a developmentally age-appropriate preschool program.
  • Create a classroom environment in accordance with goals and philosophy.
  • Builds children’s esteem and provides a secure, safe environment.
  • Follow the given curriculum that promotes literacy and pre-kindergarten readiness skills
  • Lead, manage, and delegate tasks in the classroom-to-classroom staff as appropriate.
  • Communicates effectively with parents
  • Ensures classrooms and equipment are well maintained, clean and safe.
  • Provides Monthly newsletter detailing weekly activities and curriculum to parents.


Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of an associate's degree in early childhood development or related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in a childcare setting
  • Must have a satisfactory background check per NY Statewide Central Register Database and NYS Justice Center standards.
