Overview

The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I/II/III/IV to join a dynamic research laboratory focused on cancer research. The successful candidate will support and conduct independent and collaborative research activities involving the planning, execution, and completion of research projects aimed at advancing scientific knowledge. 


Responsibilities

  • Develop research protocols, project proposals, and experimental plans.
  • Conduct non-routine and complex experiments, investigations, and research studies.
  • Collect, document, and maintain research data and biological samples, including support for collaborative research projects.
  • Record, compile, process, analyze, and interpret research data and results. Document and present research findings to investigators and collaborators.
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, reports, and presentations for publication and scientific conferences.
  • Provide technical and administrative support for laboratory research activities. Manage and oversee operation of the confocal microscope, including training and assisting faculty, staff, and graduate students in its proper use.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, institutional policies, and research protocols.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed. 

Qualifications

Level I:

  • Master's degree in a content specific area of research and 0 years of experience in research practices and protocols

Level II:

  • Master's degree in a content specific area of research and 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols

Level III:

  • Master's degree in a content specific area of research and 4 years of experience in research practices and protocols

Level IV:

  • Master's degree in a content specific area of research and 6 years of experience in research practices and protocols


Substitution allowed for Experience:

When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in biomedical, or related life sciences research.
  • Experience with advanced microscopy techniques, particularly confocal microscopy.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research.

  • Job related licensure may be required upon hire for specific positions.
