About the Role

KARL STORZ is seeking a hands-on Shipping Supervisor I to lead outbound operations within our regulated medical device distribution center. In this role, you will oversee daily shipping activities, ensure accurate and timely delivery of products to healthcare customers, and maintain compliance with FDA, ISO, GMP, and GDP requirements. You will lead a team of logistics associates, drive operational performance, and champion a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

The ideal candidate combines strong warehouse and shipping expertise with proven leadership skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring lifesaving medical devices reach customers safely, accurately, and on time.

 

This is a fully onsite position working Monday through Friday from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM.

 

What You'll Do

  • Lead daily outbound shipping operations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and on-time delivery performance while meeting customer service commitments.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop logistics associates through active floor leadership, performance management, and training.
  • Manage shipping schedules, carrier coordination, labor allocation, and workflow prioritization to meet operational demands and customer cut-off times.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ISO 13485 standards, GMP/GDP requirements, and internal Quality Management System processes.
  • Oversee product inspection, packaging, labeling, documentation, and lot/serial traceability to support quality and patient safety.
  • Utilize SAP/ERP, TMS, and WMS systems to manage shipping transactions, inventory accuracy, reporting, and operational performance.
  • Drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives that improve throughput, accuracy, compliance, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Inventory Control, Customer Service, and Warehouse Operations teams to resolve issues and improve processes.

 

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 5+ years of experience in warehousing, supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, or related environments.
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership or lead-level experience in warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working in regulated, quality-driven environments such as FDA, ISO, healthcare, or medical device operations.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP/ERP systems, transportation management systems (TMS), and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Subject matter expertise in international shipping requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coordinate workflows, manage staffing priorities, and drive KPI performance.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in medical device, healthcare, endoscopy, or other highly regulated distribution environments.
  • Knowledge of FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, GMP, GDP, and quality system requirements.
  • Experience applying Lean or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Professional certifications such as APICS, Lean, OSHA, or related credentials.
  • Knowledge of IATA and DOT shipping regulations.
