Summary
Front desk associates perform clerical duties using specific knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures. This role provides customer service to all patients and visitors entering the medical center.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Courteously answers telephones and directs calls to appropriate staff.
- Greets visitors, ascertains purpose of visit, and directs them to appropriate staff.
- Checks in and out patients in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
- Records demographics in Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Verifies patients’ insurance information, addresses and telephone numbers to ensure proper billing and accuracy.
- Confirms patients’ appointments.
- Collects co-payments from patients.
- Provides excellent customer service for patients and visitors.
- Types, records, reports, and correspondences. May use Windows XP for these tasks.
- Receives and routes messages and documents.
- Schedules follow-up physician appointments.Â
- Processes and maintains medical records of clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Breaks down discharged patients’ records to upload them properly into EHR.
- Properly uploads past medical records.
- Logs in and out physician orders.
- Processes and scans patient documents into the EHR
- Maintains documents in locked cabinets/room to assure confidentiality of patient information.
- Monitors check in and check out of patient charts by corresponding professional staff.
- Stamp all subpoenas and other attorney requests with the received dated and email them to corporate office.
- Assists other staff members when needed.
- Ensures effective patient flow to reduce patient wait time.
- Ensure that all HIPAA/ OSHA standards are in compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a clinical setting or clerical position.
- MS Office programs experience.
