Make a Difference Behind the Mission

The Construction Manager will oversee on-site construction activities for Facility Recapitalization infrastructure upgrades at Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities. The Construction Manager ensures quality workmanship, safety compliance, and coordination of construction systems within active healthcare environments.

What You’ll Do

Construction Oversight & Coordination
  • Inspect construction work to ensure quality materials and proper installation.
  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance with project specifications.
  • Verify construction systems meet scope and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate field activities among contractors, engineers, and facility leadership.
     
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards on construction sites.
  • Support adherence to healthcare facility codes and Joint Commission requirements.

Who You Are
 
  • Highly knowledgeable in construction methods and installation techniques.
  • Detail-oriented with strong inspection and quality assurance skills.
  • Comfortable working in active healthcare construction environments.
  • Effective communicator able to coordinate field teams and stakeholders.
     

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Technology, or Construction Management.
  • Additional 3 years of experience may substitute for degree requirement.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant construction management experience.
Technical Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of construction practices, materials, and installation techniques.
  • Experience in monitoring the construction for Quality Assurance including experience in preparing, analyzing and identifying incongruities and deficiencies in the contractors’ work in relationship with the construction documents.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with healthcare construction standards and permitting requirements.
Security Requirements
  • Ability to obtain VA computer access including fingerprinting and background checks.
