S&ME is looking for a Construction Materials Project Engineer Project Manager to join our Construction Services team in Augusta, Georgia.

What You Will Do:

As a Construction Materials Project Engineer Project Manager, you will lead successful delivery projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring quality, compliance, and client satisfaction at every stage. You'll play a vital role in shaping project outcomes by overseeing technical execution, mentoring field and engineering staff, and building strong client and contractor relationships. Your work directly impacts construction quality, structural reliability, and the long‑term performance of the built environment. Through a blend of project management, field oversight, technical expertise, and business development, you will drive operational excellence while supporting the growth and reputation of the organization.

  • Project Leadership & Execution: Manage end-to-end CMT and Special Inspection projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, and technical oversight, to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and IBC requirements.
  • Client & Contractor Collaboration: Engage regularly with clients and contractors through meetings and site visits to clarify project requirements, review progress, and maintain strong, service-focused relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Technical Oversight & Mentorship: Lead inspections, prepare detailed field documentation, and mentor technicians and engineers to ensure accurate testing, high-quality reporting, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Reporting, Proposals & Quality Control: Oversee the development of reports, proposals, technical scopes, and cost estimates-ensuring accuracy, alignment with project needs, and timely delivery.
  • Business Development & Professional Networking: Develop and maintain client relationships, participate in industry organizations (e.g., ASCE, AGC, ACEC), and support marketing efforts to expand local market presence and generate revenue opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or a similar Engineering field
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction materials testing and inspection
  • Certifications/Licensure/Registrations:
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
    • Current ICC, ACI, and DOT certifications are a plus
  • Key Competencies:
    • Strong working knowledge of applicable ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and procedures, and IBC Special Inspections.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including attention to detail. You should be able to develop and facilitate accurate technical materials.
