Gold Cross EMS Academy

Gold Cross EMS Academy provides hands-on education and exam preparation for individuals seeking to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). EMS offers more than a job. Gold Cross EMS Academy is an approved training site of the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma (GA OEMST), National Registry of EMTs (NREMT), National Association of EMTs (NAEMT), and the American Heart Association (AHA).
Program Overview
The EMT course is will run from 3 November 2026 to 16 February 2027. Class occurs during the week during normal business hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM).
Upon successful completion of the course and required examinations, students may become eligible for EMT licensure in Georgia or South Carolina and pursue employment opportunities in:
- 911 Emergency Services
- Medical Transport Services
- Hospitals and Healthcare Systems
- Fire and Rescue Organizations
- Other Healthcare and Public Safety Settings
Gold Cross EMS Academy also serves as a pathway for individuals interested in advancing to additional EMS and healthcare careers.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Successfully complete an in-person interview.
- Complete and pass a 50-question placement assessment administered during the interview process.
- Present a valid government-issued driver's license or photo identification card.
- Provide a local criminal background check completed within the previous 30 days.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or high school transcript.
- Age 21 or older.
Tuition & Financial Assistance
For the November 2026 class, the cost is $500, made possible through the Georgia Trauma Commission grant program.
A minimum initial payment of $250 is required on or before the first day of class.
Scholarships
Limited scholarships may be available for students experiencing financial hardship. Applicants seeking scholarship consideration must:
- Apply prior to the start of class.
- Submit a written essay explaining their financial need.
Scholarship availability varies by class size and available funding.
Additional Information
Drug testing is not required for admission into the EMT course. However, drug testing may be required by clinical internship sites as part of the program's graduation requirements.
