Position Summary

The Quality Healthcare Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting healthcare quality data to support organizational performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and patient-centered care. This role transforms complex clinical and operational data into meaningful insights that help leadership identify trends, improve outcomes, ensure compliance, and drive strategic decision-making.

The Quality Healthcare Data Analyst collaborates with clinical, operational, and administrative teams to evaluate healthcare quality measures, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend evidence-based solutions that enhance patient safety, operational efficiency, and overall organizational performance.

Responsibilities and Duties

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect, validate, analyze, and interpret healthcare quality and operational data. 
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and scorecards to monitor organizational performance. 
  • Analyze trends, patterns, and performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement. 
  • Prepare executive summaries and presentations for leadership and quality committees. 
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality benchmarks. 

Quality Improvement

  • Evaluate quality measures and identify gaps in performance. 
  • Recommend process improvements based on data findings. 
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop action plans for quality improvement initiatives. 
  • Monitor the effectiveness of improvement strategies and report outcomes. 
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) projects. 

Compliance & Regulatory Support

  • Support compliance with federal, state, and organizational quality standards. 
  • Assist with regulatory reporting requirements. 
  • Monitor performance related to healthcare quality measures and accreditation standards. 
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies. 

Performance Evaluation

  • Identify trends related to patient outcomes, operational performance, patient satisfaction, and compliance. 
  • Compare organizational performance against internal goals and industry benchmarks. 
  • Recognize opportunities to reduce errors, improve workflows, and enhance patient care. 
  • Evaluate root causes of performance gaps and recommend corrective actions. 

Collaboration

  • Work closely with clinical staff, operations, compliance, finance, and leadership. 
  • Translate complex data into meaningful information for non-technical audiences. 
  • Facilitate discussions around quality metrics and organizational performance. 
  • Provide data support for quality committees and leadership meetings.

  • Understand healthcare quality measures and performance indicators. 
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 
  • Work collaboratively across multiple departments. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. 
  • Communicate findings effectively through written reports and presentations. 
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools to create dashboards and reports.

  • Healthcare quality improvement methodologies (PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma) 
  • UDS reporting 
  • Clinical quality measures (CQMs) 
  • HEDIS 
  • CMS quality programs 
  • HRSA performance measures 
  • Risk management 
  • Healthcare compliance 
  • Electronic Health Records (eClinicalWorks, Epic, Cerner, etc.) 
  • Microsoft Excel (advanced) 
  • Power BI or Tableau 
  • SQL (preferred)

Education

Bachelor's degree in one of the following:

  • Healthcare Administration 
  • Public Health 
  • Health Information Management 
  • Data Analytics 
  • Business Administration 
  • Nursing (preferred but not required) 
  • Statistics or related field 

Experience

  • Two (2) years of experience in healthcare quality improvement, healthcare analytics, data analysis, performance improvement, or a related field preferred. 
  • Experience working in an FQHC, hospital, clinic, or healthcare organization preferred. 

Physical Demands

  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer workstation. 
  • Requires the ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other standard office equipment. 
  • Requires the ability to review, analyze, and interpret detailed reports, data sets, charts, and documentation. 
  • Requires visual acuity to read electronic screens, reports, spreadsheets, and written materials. 
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication. 
  • May require occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, or moving throughout an office or healthcare environment. 
  • May require occasional travel between clinic locations, meetings, training sessions, or organizational events. 
  • Must be able to maintain focus and accuracy while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. 

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily performed in a professional healthcare office, clinic, or administrative environment. 
  • The position requires regular interaction with clinical, operational, administrative, and leadership teams. 
  • The employee may work independently as well as collaboratively in cross-functional teams. 
  • The role involves working with confidential healthcare information and requires strict adherence to HIPAA, privacy, and organizational security standards. 
  • The position may involve exposure to a healthcare setting where patients, visitors, and clinical activities are present. 
  • Work may require managing multiple projects, responding to changing priorities, and meeting established deadlines.
