Description

Maine Veterans’ Homes (MVH) is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team. This hybrid position plays an important role in supporting financial operations across MVH, with a particular focus on pharmacy accounting, financial reporting, revenue analysis, budgeting, reimbursement, and cost reporting.


The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful information that supports sound business decisions.


What You’ll Do

  • Prepares monthly journal entries to record pharmacy revenue, accounts receivable, and deposit transactions for internal and external pharmacies.
  • Tracks outstanding accounts receivable from the facilities for external business.
  • Reconciles pharmacy revenue, contractual, cost of goods sold, accounts receivable and inventory on a monthly basis, preparing the elimination entry for year-end.
  • Evaluates payments from third party payors and rebates for the pharmacy and compares the payments to the net pharmacy revenue postings for accuracy.
  • Evaluates pharmacy inventory comparing system reports to bi-annual physical inventory counts, and adjusts inventory as needed.
  • Tracks monthly statistics and evaluates revenue and costs on a per script basis identifying fluctuations.
  • Prepares pharmacy budgets with input from Pharmacy Director using per script data, historical data and current trends.
  • Prepares monthly pharmacy financials, analysis and variance reports, and reviews with Finance and pharmacy staff monthly to identify trends, issues, discrepancies and variances. 
  • Prepares new business analysis as needed for MVH and MVH Pharmacy.
  • Understands the full revenue cycle for MVH including all MVH and pharmacy software systems, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepares MVH cost reports for all payors (VA, MaineCare and Medicare).
  • Tracks amount due from third party settlements and reconciles.
  • Assists with budgeting, financial and statistics reporting, and PPD analysis for all of MVH.
  • Distributes and summarizes variance reports to the homes, pharmacy and CO department managers.
  • Prepares monthly third-party calculations for MVH.
  • Reconciles AR, revenue, stipend and statistics for MVH.
  • Tracks all other statistics including FTE reports and prepares financial analysis per statistic.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and general ledger/accounting software. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to analyze financial information, identify trends and variances, and communicate findings clearly.

  • Experience with healthcare financial reporting, cost reporting, or third-party payors
