About the Role:

The Superintendent for Grounds Keeping & Landscape is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, enhancement, and overall health of outdoor environments across various properties. This role ensures that all landscaping projects and groundskeeping activities are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards, contributing to the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the grounds. The superintendent will lead and manage a team of groundskeepers and landscapers, coordinating schedules, assigning tasks, and providing training to maintain productivity and quality. They will also collaborate with property managers, vendors, and contractors to plan and implement landscaping improvements and seasonal maintenance programs. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in preserving the natural beauty and safety of outdoor spaces, enhancing the experience for residents, visitors, and employees alike.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of horticulture, turf management, and landscape maintenance practices.
  • Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment and machinery safely.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or certification in horticulture, landscape management, or a related field.
  • Experience with irrigation systems installation and repair.
  • Knowledge of integrated pest management and sustainable landscaping practices.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and inventory management.
  • Certification in pesticide application or other relevant industry credentials.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily groundskeeping and landscaping activities to ensure timely and effective maintenance of lawns, gardens, trees, and other outdoor features.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, including mowing, pruning, fertilizing, irrigation, pest control, and seasonal cleanups.
  • Manage and train groundskeeping staff, fostering a safe work environment and promoting professional development.
  • Inspect grounds regularly to identify issues such as plant diseases, irrigation problems, or safety hazards and take corrective action promptly.
  • Collaborate with property management and external contractors to plan and execute landscaping projects, upgrades, and renovations.
  • Maintain inventory of landscaping supplies, equipment, and materials, ensuring proper use and timely procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and company policies related to groundskeeping and landscaping operations.
