State Mechanical Services is a leading commercial and industrial HVAC contractor operating with enterprise discipline, financial accountability, and non-negotiable safety standards.

We are seeking a field-driven Construction Safety Manager who will protect our people, projects, and performance across active Chicagoland job sites.

This is not a compliance-only role.
This is a risk leadership position.

What You’ll Own

  • Active field presence across construction and service sites
  • OSHA 1910 & 1926 compliance enforcement
  • Job hazard analyses (JHA/JSA) and high-risk activity oversight
  • Incident investigation and root-cause analysis
  • Corrective and preventive action (CAPA) implementation
  • Stop-work authority when imminent danger exists
  • TRIR, DART, EMR tracking and performance reporting
  • OSHA logs, SDS records, audit-ready documentation
  • Workers’ compensation coordination and loss-trend analysis
  • Standardized safety systems across Chicagoland operations

You will influence technicians, foremen, project managers, and executives — without relying on formal supervisory authority.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5+ years construction safety leadership experience
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce safety standards and coach field teams to sustain safe, compliant operations.
  • Commercial HVAC or mechanical construction experience preferred
  • Proven incident investigation and compliance management capability
  • Ability to command field credibility and drive behavioral change
  • Proficiency with Excel and digital inspection/reporting tools
  • Valid driver’s license and local travel availability

Preferred: CSP, CHST, ASP, OSHA 500, or similar credentials.
