Description
Position Summary
Aftermath Services is seeking a growth-oriented, digitally fluent Vice President of Marketing & Sales to lead the rebuild and scaling of our marketing and sales functions nationwide. This is a player-coach role — the VP is expected to carry personal production alongside developing their team, building infrastructure, and driving measurable results across all channels.
Following Aftermath's separation from the ServiceMaster shared services model and the full transition of all functions back in-house, this leader is stepping into a rebuild. Marketing, Law Enforcement Outreach, Commercial Sales, and National Accounts are all either early-stage or being rebuilt with small, developing teams. The VP of Marketing & Sales reports directly to the CEO and will play a defining role in Aftermath's next chapter of growth.
Aftermath's revenue runs on two primary channels — and this leader must own and grow both. The first and highest-volume channel is search-driven inbound: families and businesses searching for terms like 'crime scene cleanup' or 'suicide cleanup' at the exact moment they need help. Capturing this demand requires a dominant organic search presence, a strong SEO foundation, and — critically — the ability to optimize Aftermath's visibility within AI-powered search platforms, which are rapidly changing how people find services. PPC marketing remains a high-cost channel, making a shift toward sustainable organic and AI search a top strategic priority. The second channel is law enforcement referrals — officers in the field who trust Aftermath enough to hand a grieving family our name. That trust is built through the consistent, credible work of our Outreach Rep team, led by John Tyler, Senior Law Enforcement Representative. The VP of Marketing & Sales will oversee John and the Outreach team, partnering closely with them to ensure both channels are growing in alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Digital Lead Generation
• Lead the full rebuild and strategic direction of Aftermath's marketing function, with primary emphasis on organic search, SEO, content strategy, and AI search optimization.
• Drive Aftermath's transition from PPC-dependent lead generation to a dominant, sustainable organic and AI-powered search presence — ensuring Aftermath is found at the top of results when families and businesses search for biohazard and trauma cleanup services.
• Develop and execute an AI search optimization strategy that positions Aftermath effectively within AI-powered search platforms and answer engines, which are increasingly the first touchpoint for families in crisis.
• Oversee all digital marketing channels including SEO, PPC, content marketing, email, and social — managing spend, performance, and ROI with a data-driven approach.
• Oversee traditional media, community outreach, and public relations initiatives that support brand awareness and local market visibility.
• Leverage marketing automation and analytics tools to optimize customer acquisition cost, reduce PPC dependency, and improve lead quality and volume.
Brand & Market Positioning
• Strengthen Aftermath's brand positioning as the trusted, compassionate, and scientifically rigorous leader in biohazard remediation — clearly differentiating from low-cost competitors.
• Develop thought leadership content, industry conference strategies, and PR initiatives that elevate market awareness and reinforce Aftermath's authority in the space.
• Ensure brand consistency across all digital and field-facing channels, including the materials and presence of the Outreach Rep team.
Marketing Team Development
• Directly manage, coach, and develop the Marketing Manager, filling the current gaps in technology, SEO strategy, and AI search optimization through hands-on mentorship and clear performance standards.
• Build the marketing team's capabilities over time, identifying additional talent needs as the function grows and matures.
Law Enforcement Referral Network
• Oversee and support John Tyler, Senior Law Enforcement Representative, and the Outreach Rep team responsible for building and maintaining trusted relationships with law enforcement agencies, medical examiners, coroners, victim advocates, and community partners nationwide.
• Partner with the Outreach team to ensure territory planning, performance metrics, and field presence are aligned with overall revenue strategy and growth targets.
• Ensure Outreach Reps are properly supported, equipped, and recognized as the critical revenue drivers they are — people who build the kind of trust that cannot be replicated by any digital channel.
• Identify opportunities for law enforcement service agreements and ensure smooth handoff to the internal agreements team.
Commercial Sales & National Accounts
• Build and grow Aftermath's commercial sales function targeting property managers, insurance carriers, hospitality groups, and institutional clients requiring recurring or multi-location biohazard services.
• Develop a national accounts program for enterprise customers and establish the infrastructure, processes, and team needed to support that growth.
• Identify new service lines, vertical markets, and geographic expansion opportunities that accelerate top-line revenue growth.
Revenue Strategy & Cross-Functional Leadership
• Own personal production alongside team leadership — actively developing relationships, closing commercial accounts, and contributing directly to revenue targets.
• Build CRM discipline, pipeline management tools, KPIs, and performance scorecards across all revenue-generating functions.
• Collaborate closely with Operations to ensure service delivery capacity aligns with marketing-driven lead volume and revenue growth targets.
• Partner with Finance to manage forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting to the CEO.
• Represent Aftermath at industry events, trade associations, and community forums to drive brand visibility and partnership development.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned that make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
Basic Qualifications
• 5+ years of progressive marketing and/or sales leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of building and growing revenue in a services-based business.
• Deep expertise in SEO strategy, organic search optimization, and digital marketing — with a clear understanding of how AI-powered search is changing the discovery landscape.
• Proven ability to build and scale marketing and sales functions from the ground up — not just manage established programs.
• Hands-on, player-coach approach — comfortable carrying personal production alongside leading a team.
• Experience managing and developing marketing or sales professionals, including coaching technical skill gaps.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to drive marketing spend decisions and optimize lead generation performance.
• Exceptional communication skills and executive presence; comfortable reporting directly to the CEO.
• High integrity and professional presence in a business that serves families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in restoration, remediation, emergency services, home services, or a related industry where search-driven inbound is a primary lead source.
• Demonstrated experience with AI search optimization, answer engine optimization, or emerging search platforms beyond traditional Google SEO.
• Military or law enforcement background strongly valued — candidates who understand first-responder culture will have a meaningful advantage in supporting and leading the Outreach Rep team.
• Familiarity with law enforcement referral networks, first-responder ecosystems, or community-based business development.
• Experience developing national accounts or enterprise sales programs from an early stage.
• Familiarity with marketing automation platforms, CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar), and performance analytics tools.
Working Conditions
• Regular travel required to support field teams, attend industry events, and engage with key partners nationwide.
• Occasional evening or weekend availability for industry events or time-sensitive business needs.
