What You Will Do

The Media Production Shift Lead is a highly experienced working lead and subject-matter expert responsible for coordinating production activities and providing technical leadership within a continuous 24/7 media manufacturing environment.

This position combines advanced hands-on machine operation with shift-level coordination and technical responsibility. The T3 Lead serves as a primary technical escalation point for Operators, troubleshooting complex equipment and process issues, coordinating workflow, supporting product quality, and helping maintain safe and stable production.

The T3 Lead provides day-to-day direction and coordination to team members without formal supervisory authority and plays an important role in training, mentoring, continuous improvement, and developing the technical capabilities of less-experienced Operators.

This position requires advanced process and equipment knowledge and includes specialized hands-on training, including extended international training in Germany.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for assigned media production equipment, processes, and/or shift operations.

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day production activities during the assigned shift to maintain safe, stable, and efficient operations.

  • Provide work direction and coordinate Operators without formal supervisory authority.

  • Operate complex media production equipment and provide hands-on technical support to Operators as needed.

  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for equipment, process, production, and quality issues during the shift.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment and process issues, determining appropriate corrective actions and escalating to Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, or Production leadership when necessary.

  • Lead and support equipment startup, shutdown, setup, and complex product changeovers.

  • Monitor production performance, equipment conditions, process parameters, downtime, and product quality and take appropriate action when abnormalities occur.

  • Apply advanced technical and process knowledge to resolve production issues and maintain manufacturing requirements.

  • Coordinate shift workflow, production priorities, breaks, and coverage to support continuous operation.

  • Train, coach, and mentor Operators on equipment operation, troubleshooting, standard work, safety requirements, quality standards, and manufacturing best practices.

  • Support the development and qualification of newer Operators and reinforce consistent adherence to established processes.

  • Work closely with Maintenance and Engineering during equipment troubleshooting, repairs, process adjustments, and equipment improvements.

  • Partner with Quality to investigate nonconforming product, identify potential causes, and implement corrective actions.

  • Support new product introductions, process trials, equipment commissioning, and manufacturing changes.

  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, productivity, equipment uptime, waste reduction, and process efficiency.

  • Provide technical input and recommendations regarding equipment and process improvements.

  • Ensure accurate completion of production, quality, downtime, and process documentation.

  • Facilitate effective shift handoffs and communicate production status, equipment concerns, quality issues, and outstanding actions to incoming shifts and support teams.

  • Promote a safe, organized, accountable, and quality-focused work environment.

  • Perform other related duties and accountabilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of manufacturing, machine operation, production, or related industrial experience preferred.

  • Significant hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting complex manufacturing or production equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a technical resource or subject-matter expert within a manufacturing environment.

  • Previous experience leading, coordinating, training, or mentoring production employees.

  • Ability to provide day-to-day work direction and coordinate others without formal supervisory authority.

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude with strong equipment and process troubleshooting capabilities.

  • Experience performing machine setups, complex changeovers, adjustments, and process optimization.

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose production problems, identify root causes, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing quality requirements and experience performing or overseeing in-process quality checks.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality.

  • Strong communication, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to remain composed and make sound decisions during equipment failures, production interruptions, and other time-sensitive situations.

  • Ability to independently prioritize production needs and take ownership of shift-level operational issues.

  • Experience with continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, or similar manufacturing methodologies preferred.

  • Basic computer skills for production reporting, data entry, documentation, and process monitoring.

  • Ability and willingness to work a 24/7 rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally for extended specialized training, potentially up to three months.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Forklift experience preferred.

Working Conditions

This position is performed primarily in a manufacturing and production environment and requires regular hands-on interaction with production machinery and equipment.

The role requires prolonged periods of standing and walking and may involve bending, reaching, lifting, material handling, equipment setup, troubleshooting, and other physical activities associated with production operations.

Employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, moving mechanical equipment, varying temperatures, and other conditions typical of an industrial production environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required.

The position requires the ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

This position supports a continuous 24/7 manufacturing operation and requires flexibility to work assigned 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
