This is a remote position.

We are seeking a highly specialized Life Science Linguist to provide high-quality translation, revision, and editing services for technical, medical, and regulatory documents. As a 1099 contractor, you will work independently on a project-by-project basis to ensure that complex scientific content is accurately rendered into the target language while maintaining strict compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translation: Convert complex life science documents (e.g., clinical trial protocols, ICFs, dossiers, and medical device manuals) from English (USA) to Portuguese (Portugal) with 100% technical accuracy.

  • Review & Revision: Conduct bilingual reviews of translated materials against the source text to ensure no omissions, mistranslations, or terminology errors.

  • Editing & Proofreading: Refine the style, flow, and grammar of target-language content to ensure it is culturally appropriate and meets the "native-level" quality expected for publication or regulatory submission.

  • Terminology Management: Maintain and update client-specific glossaries and translation memories to ensure consistency across large-scale projects.

  • QA Compliance: Adhere to ISO 17100 and ISO 13485 standards for linguistic quality and risk management.



Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Advanced degree (MA, MS, PhD, or MD) in a Life Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, etc.) or a degree in Translation with significant field experience.

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in life science translation/editing.

  • Linguistic Skill: Native-level fluency in the target language and professional-level mastery of the source language.

  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with CAT Tools (e.g., SDL Trados, memoQ, Memsource).

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Proven ability to handle high-stakes regulatory content, such as EMA/FDA filings or MedDRA/EDQM terminology.
