Position Description:

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Louisville invites applications for an innovative, collaborative, and visionary leader to serve as Director and Chief of Anatomic Pathology. The successful candidate will provide strategic, clinical, and academic leadership for all anatomic pathology services across multiple clinical sites within a large, complex academic health system. This individual will oversee anatomic pathology operations; advance subspecialty sign-out, integrated diagnostics, and precision medicine initiatives; and lead departmental efforts in quality, safety, and continuous improvement. The Chief of Anatomic Pathology will play a key role in mentoring and professional development for anatomic pathology faculty, with particular emphasis on colleagues early in their careers.

The department is a recognized leader in digital pathology, operating a fully digital clinical workflow that supports remote access and innovative educational models, and is supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic and research laboratories, including robust core facilities and advanced molecular diagnostics capabilities.

Working closely with departmental leadership, hospital administration, and clinical partners, the Chief will help foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong administrative and interpersonal skills, experience navigating a highly matrixed environment, and a clear commitment to the academic mission, including scholarship and medical student, resident, and fellow education.

Applicants must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP and eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Academic rank, tenure status, and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and scholarly accomplishments; the compensation package is highly competitive.
