The individual will be responsible for providing a safe swim instruction for participants. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Always maintain pool safety during swimming lessons; deliver lessons that provide students the best opportunity to acquire skills for their level Educate participants on pool rules and enforce rules as required Remain current on all CPR, First Aid and other safety certification training Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately using proper forms Be visible to members at all times-work towards branch membership retention goals Keep daily attendance records and complete level skill sheets Be in the water 50-100% of class time Communicate with all participants/parents if class is being cancelled and/or rescheduled Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES Clear Communication Customer Service Inclusion Safety Active Listening WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical demands described here are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodation can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions Frequently required to sit, reach and must be able to move around the work environment Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and focus Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate DISCLAIMER The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver reserves the right to modify, add, or remove job duties and responsibilities as business needs evolve.
