Overview:
Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher. This educator will play a vital role in supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities by designing and delivering individualized instruction that fosters growth in balance, strength, mobility, and fine/gross motor coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging, adaptive physical education lessons tailored to meet students diverse needs.

  • Provide direct instruction as well as consultative services to students requiring adaptive PE.

  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure student success.

  • Participate actively in the IEP process, including evaluations, development, and progress reporting.

  • Employ effective instructional techniques and modifications to promote inclusion and student achievement.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Physical Education Endorsement.

  • Adaptive Physical Education Approval (or ability to obtain approval).

  • Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
