Job Summary

To support our extraordinary team who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Facilities Engineer located in Austin, TX.  

Reporting to the Facilities Manager the Facilities Engineer role applies engineering values to design, modify or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment or processes used in processing or manufacturing products.

6pm - 6am Sat/Sun/Mon/Tue + Alternating Wed

What a typical day looks like:

  • Research facility products or equipment specifications and performance requirements to define designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
  • Research engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical data pertaining to industrial facilities machinery and equipment design.
  • Defines feasibility of designing new plant facilities equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors.
  • Provides technical facilities information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
  • Compiles and research facilities research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment.
  • Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in industry.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Guides projects and project teams.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, related degree or equivalent experience and training.
  • Requires a minimum of 6+ years of related experience.
  • Prefer some knowledge of manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrates advanced operations, technical and people and/or process skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of the function and a thorough comprehension of Flex’s and related business.
  • Creates functional processes or technologies. Executes functional strategic plans and objectives at the site.
  • Matter Expertise in one or more of the following areas: clean rooms, Walk-in Coolers & Freezers, RO/DI Water systems, Waste Neutralization, Compressed gas distribution systems, vacuum systems, Process chillers and non-clean utilities.
  • Manufacturing plant construction in a cGMP industry; preferably in Medical Devices or Pharma.
  • Facilities Engineering construction activity at MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Process) discipline.
  • Fault/Root Cause Analysis and Review (FRACAS).
  • Utilities (steam, cooling media, heating media, water systems, compressed air).
