Scope of Services

As an independent contractor providing behavior analytic services, you will:

  • Develop behavior plans and treatment plans for students, and recommend appropriate behavior strategies
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and skills assessments using evidence-based tools
  • Develop and apply assessment tools to conduct functional assessment and analysis as clinically indicated
  • Establish and maintain a data collection system to capture baseline and programmatic efficacy; analyze data to inform practice
  • Provide clinical guidance and support to direct support professionals, ABA implementers, and others in support roles for families
  • Deliver appropriate service to each student on the assigned caseload
  • Maintain open, frequent communication with parents and related service staff
  • Recommend the service time needed to implement behavioral goals
  • Attend student-specific meetings (ARD/IEP, team consultation) relevant to the contracted caseload
  • Maintain compliance with applicable ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations, including the BACB Ethics Code

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Certification: Current and valid BCBA certification in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
  • Licensure: Valid Texas driver's license and safe driving record

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis, functional analysis and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills
  • Ability to serve a range of clients across age and functional levels with minimal direction
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong family engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to a wide variety of situations in the school environment
  • Consistent, reliable delivery of scheduled services

Independent Contractor Terms

This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement, not employment. Accordingly:

  • Compensation is paid as contract fees against submitted invoices; no taxes are withheld. A completed W-9 is required prior to the start of services.
  • The contractor is solely responsible for all federal, state, and self-employment taxes.
  • No employee benefits are provided, including health, dental, or vision insurance; retirement plans; disability or life insurance; or paid leave.
  • The contractor maintains their own professional liability insurance and is responsible for keeping BCBA certification and all required credentials current at their own expense.
  • The contractor determines the clinical means and methods of service delivery, subject to the student's IEP/BIP, the BACB Ethics Code, and applicable district and campus policies.
  • The contractor schedules service delivery in coordination with campus availability, and is not required to maintain set daily hours beyond those needed to fulfill contracted services.
  • Service dates, locations, caseload, and rates are set out in a written independent contractor agreement.

Engagement is contingent upon a satisfactory background check permitting work in a public school setting.
