Many of the world's top engineers and scientists come together in our Water business because they view a community's interaction with water a bit differently: as a single holistic system, rather than unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. Working throughout the hydrologic cycle, we are delivering sustainable solutions to make sure water is where it should be and available when needed. Our experts guide our work with scientific rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generations. Grow with us, H2O+U.

Your Opportunity

Stantec's Texas Water group is seeking a motivated Water Resources Engineer to join our Watershed & River Hydraulics team. This position will support a wide range of flood risk management, watershed planning, drainage, riverine, coastal resilience, and water resources infrastructure projects throughout Texas and across North America.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute technically while also taking increasing responsibility for project coordination, client interaction, task management, and project delivery. The successful candidate will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions that address complex water resources challenges facing our communities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for watershed, riverine, stormwater, floodplain management, and drainage improvement projects.
  • Develop, calibrate, and apply HEC-RAS 1D and 2D, HEC-HMS, and other water resources models to support planning, permitting, design, and flood risk evaluations.
  • Conduct engineering studies, feasibility analyses, alternatives evaluations, and technical assessments.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, floodplain studies, calculations, specifications, presentations, and client deliverables.
  • Utilize GIS, terrain data, survey information, and hydraulic modeling results to support project analyses.
  • Coordinate with engineers, planners, GIS specialists, environmental scientists, surveyors, and other project team members.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, and data collection efforts as needed.
  • Support project managers in scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Manage individual project tasks and workstreams, including monitoring budgets, schedules, deliverable progress, and quality expectations.
  • Lead coordination efforts with clients, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and internal project teams, as appropriate for the assignment.
  • Facilitate project meetings, document action items, and track progress toward project milestones.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and EITs.
  • Support proposal development, technical approaches, level-of-effort estimates, and business development activities.
  • Contribute to maintaining high standards of technical quality, innovation, and client service.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
