Your Opportunity

Stantec is currently seeking a full-time Mission Critical Construction Administrator based in our Austin, TX office. In this role, you will bring broad construction experience, technical knowledge, and a commitment to design excellence to support complex mission critical projects across the country. As a key member of an integrated, multidisciplinary team, you will serve as the vital link between the design team and construction team during project execution, acting as a field representative for the architect/engineer throughout the construction phase. You will be responsible for coordinating and administering construction contract activities for projects of varying complexity and scale, ensuring design intent is successfully translated into the field through management of RFIs, submittals, and design clarifications; monitoring construction progress; supporting schedule-critical decision-making; and facilitating communication among contractors, owners, and design disciplines. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong technical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-performance mission critical facilities while helping clients achieve their cost, schedule, quality, and safety objectives.

This position will require on-site field representation for approximately 20% of your time, with the remainder of your time following a hybrid work model that includes in-office and work-from-home flexibility.

Your Key Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the design team, General Contractor, owner, and other project stakeholders during construction.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of construction progress, schedule status, and upcoming milestones, communicating key updates and risks to the design team.
  • Participate in OAC meetings with the contractor, construction management team, trades, owner representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication regarding design clarifications, field conditions, constructability issues, and project priorities to support timely resolution.
  • Coordinate regular construction progress discussions and prepare periodic project updates summarizing status, key risks, outstanding action items, RFIs, and submittals for design team and client project management.
  • Promote collaboration and timely decision-making to support overall project delivery and schedule objectives.
  • Manage and prioritize the design team's RFI and submittal workflow to support construction sequencing and schedule-critical activities.
  • Review, track, and coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs), ensuring timely responses and resolution of field issues.
  • Prepare and review architectural RFI responses and coordinate multidisciplinary input from the design team as required.
  • Review and process shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and other construction contract documentation.
  • Coordinate design clarifications and technical responses between the contractor and design disciplines.
  • Support maintenance of accurate construction administration records and project documentation.
  • Conduct periodic site visits and observe construction progress to verify conformance with contract documents and design intent.
  • Coordinate and support design team’s periodic site visits verifying adequately documenting site observations, action items, and written field reports.
  • Support punch list inspections and verification of completion of corrective work.
  • Identify recurring issues, design conflicts, and potential construction risks, escalating critical items to project leadership as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with the owner, contractor, and design team to address field conditions and support timely resolution of construction issues.
  • Support evaluation of change requests, change orders, claims, and design revisions arising during construction.
  • Assist in negotiating acceptable resolutions and processing contract modifications for management review and approval.
  • Review progress payment applications and support preparation and certification of payment requests.
  • Support project closeout activities, including final documentation, punch list completion, and turnover requirements.
  • Process project closeout documentation and assist in achieving final project completion.
  • Regional travel required to support site observations, construction meetings, and project delivery.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
