Job Summary

The Day Porter is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and presentable facilities throughout the day by performing ongoing cleaning and support tasks. This position plays a key role in ensuring that assigned buildings remain in good condition during operational hours by addressing immediate cleaning needs and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Key Responsibilities

 • Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas throughout the day, including lobbies, restrooms, break rooms, offices, hallways, and other common areas.
 • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, spot cleaning, and sanitizing as needed.
 • Monitor and restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms and common areas.
 • Respond promptly to spills, trash overflow, and other immediate cleaning needs.
 • Empty trash and recycling containers and ensure waste is properly disposed of.
 • Support facility appearance by keeping entrances, walkways, and high-traffic areas clean and presentable.
 • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply needs to the supervisor in a timely manner.
 • Follow all safety procedures and properly use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
 • Assist with floor care duties as needed based on operational needs.
 • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous custodial, janitorial, or porter experience.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English and communicate effectively with staff and visitors.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to immediate needs.
• Attendance is a requirement to be successful in this position.

Physical Requirements

 • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
 • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
 • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in various environmental conditions.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a variety of settings during regular business hours and may involve exposure to cleaning products, equipment, and varying conditions.
The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting, along with the use of cleaning tools and machinery.

Job Type: Full-time

Work Schedule: First Shift, Monday through Friday
