As the Director of Business Development – General Contractors, you will lead the expansion of Billd’s newest offer, Predictable Pay. This early pay program enables General Contractors (GCs) to generate incremental margin while giving subcontractors greater control over when they get paid. Reporting directly to the GM of Predictable Pay, this is a quota-carrying enterprise sales role responsible for building pipeline and owning the full sales cycle for GCs nationwide, from prospecting through close.
You will engage senior GC executives, including CFOs, Controllers, senior executives, and Procurement leaders, to build the financial and strategic case for Predictable Pay and navigate complex enterprise sales cycles from initial engagement through close. This high-visibility, high-impact role offers the opportunity to join Predictable Pay at an early stage and help shape how we take this new offering to market. You will have autonomy over sales execution and go-to-market strategy, build relationships with some of the largest contractors in the country, and help establish a new category in construction finance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales to General Contractors
- Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through close for large and enterprise General Contractors, primarily $1B and up in annual revenue.
- Build and own a pipeline of target GCs through direct prospecting, industry relationships, conferences, referrals, and partner channels.
- Partner with marketing to develop targeted campaigns, events, and content that create engagement with priority GC accounts.
- Lead consultative, enterprise-level sales conversations with CFOs, finance executives, and the broader executive team.
- Develop compelling financial business cases for GC executives, including program economics, working capital considerations, subcontractor adoption, and expected financial returns.
- Lead internal coordination across leadership, legal, funding, product, and customer success to address deal requirements and drive opportunities to close.
- Navigate complex enterprise sales cycles across multiple GC stakeholders, including Finance, Treasury, Procurement, Legal, IT, and Operations.
Account Management and Growth
- Ensure seamless onboarding and handoff to post-sales teams for successful deployment.
- Develop account growth strategies to expand program adoption post-launch.
- Maintain executive sponsorship following launch, identify expansion opportunities, and help develop successful GC relationships into strategic and referenceable accounts.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of B2B enterprise sales experience, ideally within supply chain finance, working capital solutions, fintech, construction technology, or related financial solutions. Experience selling to large General Contractors or CFO-level finance organizations is strongly preferred.
- Proven success selling complex financial or technology solutions to executive-level decision-makers.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with strong executive presence.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple enterprise sales opportunities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Salesforce and disciplined pipeline and opportunity management.
- Self-starter with a bias for action and the ability to operate independently.
- Strong business and financial acumen with an ability to link product capabilities to measurable business outcomes.
- Skilled at navigating complex sales cycles and aligning multiple stakeholders toward shared goals.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, but confident driving individual outcomes.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is energized by building the sales motion for a new business from the ground up.
