Opportunity:  Morgan Foods, Inc. has a full-time, union-based Electrician role available. This is an on-site position, with the assigned shift to be determined based on operational needs and candidate availability. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Safety Champion by helping ensure employees, equipment, and the work environment remain safe.
  • Perform daily setup of production and packaging equipment, including can code printers, Taptone X-Ray Fill Detection Systems, and checkweighers, ensuring all systems are operational.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment while following all required safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO).
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, controls, and automated machinery quickly and effectively to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Use electrical test instruments and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to identify and correct equipment issues.
  • Ensure electrical work complies with applicable company, OSHA, quality, and food-safety requirements, including SQF, HACCP, and GMP standards.
  • Maintain accurate preventive and corrective maintenance records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as Maximo.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor, Electrical Supervisor, and maintenance team to identify and resolve equipment deficiencies and support electrical maintenance projects.
  • Ensure guards and safety devices are reinstalled and functioning properly after maintenance or repair work is completed.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts that strengthen equipment reliability, operational performance, safety, and product quality.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and frequently stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, and use hands, fingers, and wrists to operate tools and equipment. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including work in confined spaces, as required.

Environmental Requirements: Ability to work primarily in a manufacturing plant that is not climate-controlled and may include hot, cold, wet, or otherwise variable conditions.

Communication Requirements: Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, safety rules, schematics, technical manuals, and quality standards. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors and complete required documentation accurately and on time.

Behavioral & Work Style Expectations: Demonstrates reliability, accountability, consistent attendance, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Adapts to changing priorities and remains committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Scheduling & Availability: Ability to work the assigned shift, with flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to support production demands.

Education/Training/Skills/Experience/Personal Attributes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification in electrical systems or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Previous industrial maintenance experience required; food processing or manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining industrial electrical systems and automated machinery.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical test instruments, PLCs, motor controls, and industrial automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and food-industry requirements, including SQF, HACCP, and GMPs.
  • Experience using a CMMS, such as Maximo, to document work orders and maintenance history.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
