Position Summary

The Defect Control Process Technician is responsible for performing activities involved with identification and containment of defect issues inline. DC Process Technicians will be provided with various software systems, tools and apps to investigate and evaluate suspect material (lots/wafers) and document and communicate equipment issues to the appropriate process group owners (ex: Photo, Etch, Diffusion, CVD, etc.). This is a desk job within an open team atmosphere, requiring extensive end user computer and analytical skills. This is not an equipment technician job inside the fab/factory.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Disposition material (lots/wafers) by investigating and evaluating defect failures at various inspection steps inline.

  • Create/Write Out of Control (OOC) Reports to document and communicate evaluated defect failures.

  • DC Process Technicians will be trained to utilize various software systems, tools, and apps to fulfill job duties.

  • Evaluate data submitted by process groups/owners to close defect events and release equipment back to production.

  • Monitor inventory levels and skip (release) non-suspect material as needed.

  • If necessary per SOP, DC Techs will shut down equipment suspected to be causing evaluated defect failures.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

  • Requires High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Prefer 2yr/4yr college degree or Current Enrollment in a college program.  Programs in Engineering Technologies, Computer Sciences, Technical Writing are beneficial for this job.

  • Prefer strong data mining, troubleshooting skills, and an energetic/self starter personality.

  • Prefer strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Must be comfortable following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).

  • Requires some experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Prefer semiconductor process experience in defect monitor and reduction, or failure analysis.
