About The Team And The Role:
The eBay Controllership team wants a motivated professional combining technical and operational accounting skills. The role is an Experienced Accounting Manager supporting the Financial Services business. Successful candidates bring their accounting and process knowledge to a collaborative, high-growth environment. The success of this role will largely be dependent on the ability to manage and collaborate with partners across multiple geographies while ensuring month-end close activities are completed on time and with precision in accordance with accounting and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying issues, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to improve accounting processes with a long-term, scalable perspective.
What You Will Accomplish:
Lead the month-end close and ensure the integrity and completeness of the Financial Services P&L and Balance Sheet, including accruals, key reserves and estimates, journal entries, account reconciliations, fluctuation analyses, accounting positions, and related disclosures. Prepare and present month-end close reporting packages to internal and cross-functional stakeholders.
Be a trusted and strategic Controlling partner across cross functional groups such as Finance, Accounting Policy, SOX, Tax, Legal, Shared Services, Finance Information Technology, Product, and Business teams.
Support business initiatives through identifying accounting requirements, providing accounting guidance, and ensuring implementation of relevant financial controls/processes.Â
Assess SOX implications, modify/implement controls as appropriate, and manage accounting process reviews with internal/external auditors.
Drive a forward-looking, innovation-oriented mindset by continuously challenging both existing accounting processes and new initiatives, proactively seeking opportunities to leverage automation, data intelligence, and emerging technologies (including AI/ML), and reimagining how work is designed to enhance scalability, insight, and efficiency across the close and control environment.
What You Will Bring:
Independent, proactive professional with strong sense of ownership and the following:
At least 7 years of experience in Accounting; Experience in public accounting and within a large, high-growth company is a plus
CPA or equivalent preferred
Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP, SOX, and standard accounting processes and controls
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen to the needs of others, articulate issues clearly, and present findings/recommendations persuasively.
Demonstrated analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities, with experience applying these skills to resolve operational accounting process and system issues.
Ability to collaborate and influence in a cross-functional environment, including working with all levels and across multiple locations.
Adaptability in evolving environments, with demonstrated ability to leverage systems to improve accounting processes and controls.
Ability to set priorities, manage competing demands, and deliver results in a high-growth, evolving environment.
Experience with ERP systems; experience with SAP / S4Hana is a plus
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
Additional Details
The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$103,600 - $177,800Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
