Job Summary

The Floor Technician Helper assists with maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of facility flooring. This position supports floor care operations by helping with cleaning, polishing, buffing, stripping, and other floor maintenance activities under the direction of a Floor Technician or Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with routine cleaning and maintenance of various floor surfaces, including tile, hardwood, carpet, and vinyl, using appropriate equipment and cleaning products.
 • Assist with floor stripping, waxing, buffing, polishing, and refinishing projects.
 • Prepare work areas by moving furniture, placing safety signs, and gathering necessary supplies and equipment.
 • Assist with applying floor finishes, waxes, and sealants in accordance with company procedures.
 • Inspect work areas and report floor damage, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
 • Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
 • Assist with custodial duties as needed based on operational demands.
 • Maintain supplies and notify supervisor when inventory is low.
 • Clean, rinse, and properly store all floor care equipment and accessories after every use.
 • Complete and submit any required shift reports or checklists before leaving.
 • Report any incidents, damages, or equipment issues to the supervisor before end of shift.
 • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous custodial, janitorial, or floor care experience preferred.
 • Ability to safely use equipment and chemicals.
 • Basic knowledge of cleaning products and proper usage.
 • Familiarity with safety standards.
 • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
 • Valid driver's license required. This position may be required to operate company vehicles or travel between locations as needed to complete assigned floor care work.
 • Attendance is a requirement to be successful in this position.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
 • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
 • Ability to perform repetitive motions and assist with floor care activities for extended periods.
 • Ability to push, pull, and move equipment and supplies as needed.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a variety of settings and may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, equipment, and varying conditions. The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting with floor care machinery and tools.

Work Schedule

This position is primarily scheduled Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 12:30 AM. Weekend work may be required based on operational needs.
