Sonic Summary

info
  • The position is for a front-end developer with a focus on building responsive interfaces for SENTIENT OS and AERIS, utilizing modern frameworks like React or Next.js.
  • Candidates should have strong front-end engineering skills, demonstrable UX/UI work, and experience creating or maintaining a design system, with a salary range of $100,000 to $130,000.
  • The role requires a solid visual design foundation and the ability to produce graphic assets for both digital and print collateral, along with comfortable API integration skills.
  • Applicants must have at least 3 years of relevant experience and be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, as relocation assistance is not provided.
  • The position offers comprehensive healthcare options, a retirement plan, and a direct line of communication with leadership for rapid project execution.

What you’ll do when you get here:

Front-End Development

  • Build and maintain responsive, performant interfaces for SENTIENT OS and AERIS: consoles, dashboards, configuration and control UIs.
  • Implement components, layout systems, and interaction patterns in a modern framework (React/Next.js or equivalent).
  • Integrate front-end with back-end APIs and data sources alongside the core engineering team.
  • Keep the codebase modular and reusable through a component library, clear state management, and clean architecture.

UX/UI Design and Interaction

  • Turn product concepts and operator workflows into interfaces people can use under pressure.
  • Produce user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups
  • Design interaction models for complex system state: alerts, timelines, mission views, sensor and device status, configuration flows.
  • Run lightweight usability validation through internal demos and fast feedback cycles, then iterate on real usage.

Brand, Visual Language, and Design System

  • Define, maintain, and evolve Sentient's visual guidelines: typography, color, spacing, iconography, and motion.
  • Build and maintain one shared design system and component library used across the web site, internal OS, software products, internal tools, and print collateral.
  • Hold visual consistency across digital and physical surfaces, refining the guidelines as the product family grows.
  • Create and manage graphic assets, icons, diagrams, visual metaphors, data visualizations, that hold up on screen and in print.

 Digital + Print Collateral

  • Own templates for spec sheets, product one-pagers, pamphlets, business cards, banners, and event leave-behinds.
  • Produce print-ready files with correct bleed, margins, resolution, and color space, and coordinate with print vendors on proofs.
  • Turn engineering data, specifications, performance curves, interface drawings, into clear, accurate customer-facing sheets.
  • Keep a versioned library of current collateral so business development always pulls the approved file.

Website and Marketing Surface

  • Own the front-end of the marketing website: layout, navigation, responsiveness, and performance.
  • Ship new pages and sections for product launches, use cases, and documentation.
  • Work with leadership on content structure and information hierarchy so the product narrative reads clearly.
  • Hold the website to the same design system and brand standards as the products.

Collaboration and Process

  • Work directly with the founder/CTO and core engineering team so UI decisions match product architecture and real system capability.
  • Translate technical constraints and system behavior into visual affordances and useful user feedback.
  • Establish lightweight process, design reviews, component documentation, PR guidelines, that keeps the front-end clean as the team scales.
  • Advocate for the user in a highly technical, mission-driven environment.

This is an Austin, TX-based position. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship and either reside in the Austin area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong front-end engineering with modern JavaScript and a major framework (React/Next.js or equivalent).

  • Solid visual design foundation: layout, typography, color, composition, iconography.
  • Experience creating or maintaining a design system or component library.
  • Ability to produce graphic assets, icons, diagrams, illustrations, without a separate designer.
  • Experience designing for print or export-ready print/PDF assets: spec sheets, one-pagers, brochures, business cards, with working knowledge of bleed, margins, resolution, and color spaces.
  • Comfortable with APIs, data structures, system behavior.
  • Clear communication with technical stakeholders, and the judgment to turn loose requirements into usable UI and accurate collateral.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interfaces for complex operational domains: defense, industrial, robotics, or energy.
  • Data visualization and real-time interfaces.
  • Documentation sites, developer platforms, or admin consoles.
  • Git-centric workflows.
  • Familiarity with export-control or markings requirements on customer-facing material.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare Plan Options (Employee-paid)
  • Retirement Plan
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Direct ownership of every surface a customer, evaluator, or operator ever sees.
  • Short path from idea to shipped: no design-by-committee, no layers between you and the founder/CTO and CEO.
  • Hardware and software that goes to the field, not to a slide.
