Position Overview Augment Professional Services (APS) is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) QA/QC Technician to support field quality activities on a complex industrial construction and advanced manufacturing project. This position is focused on low-voltage controls, HVAC-related instrumentation, mechanical systems, field devices, transmitters, and controls installation rather than traditional high-voltage power distribution. The I&C QA/QC Technician will perform field inspections, review installation requirements, verify workmanship, identify construction deficiencies, and confirm instrumentation and controls equipment has been installed in accordance with drawings, manufacturer requirements, specifications, and project quality standards. A critical part of this role is the ability to recognize installation errors before systems reach commissioning or startup. Key responsibilities may include: Perform field QA/QC inspections of instrumentation and controls installations. Inspect HVAC controls, mechanical controls, instrumentation, transmitters, sensors, and related devices. Verify low-voltage control wiring and equipment installation. Review manufacturer installation manuals and project specifications. Verify transmitter orientation, mounting, tubing, wiring, accessibility, and installation quality. Confirm field devices are correctly installed for eventual communication with PLC and controls systems. Identify installation defects, discrepancies, and nonconforming work. Document inspection findings and support corrective-action tracking. Review drawings, schematics, P&IDs, control diagrams, and equipment documentation. Coordinate with mechanical, HVAC, controls, electrical, commissioning, and construction teams. Perform site walks and support turnover and system readiness activities.   QualificationsRequired Technical Skills Experience in I&C, I&E, controls, HVAC controls, mechanical QA/QC, commissioning, or industrial field inspection. Strong understanding of instrumentation and controls installation practices. Experience inspecting transmitters, sensors, field instruments, and control devices. Working knowledge of low-voltage control systems, including approximately 120–277/280V applications where applicable. Understanding of how transmitters and instrumentation interface with PLC-based systems. Ability to read technical manuals and verify installations against manufacturer requirements. Ability to interpret P&IDs, instrumentation drawings, controls drawings, schematics, and specifications. Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to identify installation deficiencies. Ability to perform extensive field/site inspections. Preferred Experience / Qualifications HVAC, mechanical systems, building controls, or mechanical commissioning background. Technical school, HVAC program, instrumentation program, electrical program, or equivalent field training. Experience in semiconductor, cleanroom, data center, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or other mission-critical environments. QA/QC inspection experience on major capital construction projects. NCCER, ISA, electrical, HVAC, commissioning, or related certifications. Experience with construction turnover, punch lists, and commissioning readiness.
