Job Description
Position Overview & Core Mission
The primary mission of the Lead Landscape Designer & Sales role is to guide clients from initial inquiry to approved, actionable build plans. This position bridges client relationships and landscape architecture, creating beautiful, site-accurate 2D/3D renderings that incorporate native Central Texas plantings, custom hardscapes, and eco-friendly features while avoiding invasive species.
Key Responsibilities & Daily Workflow
Client Relationship & Sales Leadership
Lead Qualification & Discovery: Serve as the main point of contact for prospective clients, conducting initial site analyses, taking property measurements, recording topography, and photographing project sites.
Vision & Budget Alignment: Walk clients through their vision, budget parameters, and site dynamics during initial consultations.
Ongoing Client Communication: Maintain regular weekly touchpoints to keep clients informed on design queue statuses and revision timelines.
Landscape Architecture & Design
Schematic & Concept Development: Draft schematic landscape and hardscape concepts in collaboration with team leadership.
Comprehensive Plan Creation: Deliver complete design packages, including boundary and structure scale drawings, hardscape layouts (patios, walkways, retaining walls), detailed planting plans (with plant varieties, quantities, and keys), and utility layouts (drainage, irrigation, and lighting).
Revision Management: Lead initial design presentations and manage client feedback through structured revision phases (one major revision and two minor revisions).
Estimation & Build Handoff
Material Takeoffs: Calculate and compile precise spatial data (square footage, linear feet, and material quantities) upon design completion to build accurate project estimates and project margins.
Production Team Collaboration: Share project scopes, drawings, and client goals with the production team to ensure smooth transitions from paper to construction.
Daily Operations & Communication
Schedule & Status Reporting: Maintain daily time tracking by project, provide daily schedule/communication updates, and share end-of-day project screenshots to ensure design accuracy and minimize re-work.
Team Collaboration: Actively communicate via team channels (e.g., Slack) to clarify project scopes, resolve site challenges, and continuously refine design standards.
Base Pay $50k-60k
Plus commission (10k-15k).
2 Weeks of PTO, Holidays, and good times after 60 day trial period.
Qualifications
- Landscape Architecture degree and/or 2 years experience in design.
- Proficiency with SketchUp, Lumion, and other rendering tools.
- Familiarity with bidding projects
- Ability to work in the field (I.e. lift over 80 LBS frequently, dig holes, and move wheel barrows.
- An open mind and open heart.
