Network & Connectivity Technologist (Client-USB, Thunderbolt, AI PC)

Dell’s CTO team hires some of the brightest and most talented engineers and technologists in the industry. We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Technologist with deep technical expertise, strategic vision and the unwavering drive to deliver ground-breaking products. The technologist will define the strategy, influence the industry ecosystem to support the strategy and lead R&D investigations that deliver industry leading experiences in Dell’s client products.

What you will achieve

As the Platform I/O and Connectivity Technologist, you will architect and drive the integration of next-generation wired IO technologies across Dell’s client platforms, docks, and displays. You will define and execute the technology roadmap for seamless, high-performance connectivity, ensuring Dell systems remain at the forefront of industry standards and user experience. Your work will directly influence platform architecture, supplier strategy, and cross-functional execution, delivering robust, sustainable, and repairable solutions that meet evolving customer and regulatory requirements. You will also advance innovation through AI/ML, contribute to IP generation, and help shape the future of connectivity in the modern AI PC era.

You will:

  • Lead IO Integration:  Architect and implement advanced wired IO technologies (USB4, Thunderbolt, Multi-Gig Ethernet, DisplayPort, HDMI, eUSB2) across Dell platforms, docks and displays for seamless interoperability and performance
  • Drive Innovation Roadmaps:  Define and execute N+2 and future IO technology strategies to enable platform differentiation and long-term connectivity vision
  • Supplier & Component Strategy:  Lead supplier R&D engagements for critical components (retimers, controllers, connectors) to ensure resilience and compatibility
  • Advance Connectivity with AI/ML:  Utilize AI/ML for system optimization, diagnostics and predictive analytics to enhance network performance and reliability
  • Industry Leadership & Sustainability:  Influence global standards, champion modular and repairable designs and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver innovative, future-proof solutions while mentoring technical teams

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in network technologies and connectivity technologies such as USB and TBT in PC products
  • Demonstrated track record of impactful innovation and industry thought leadership
  • Proven ability to influence internal stakeholders and technology partners to drive strategic outcomes
  • Strong understanding of network architecture for workstations and AI PC’s design including hardware and software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative mindset

Desirable Requirements:

  • Typically requires 15+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12+ years and a Master’s degree (EE or ME); or 8+ years and a PhD; or equivalent experience

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $229,500 - $342,650.
