Overview

The Senior Civil Engineer I is an experienced, mid-level engineering role responsible for leading and supporting the delivery of civil engineering projects across multiple sectors. This position is well‑suited for engineers with approximately 4–8+ years of professional experience who demonstrate strong technical judgment, the ability to manage complex design tasks, and the capability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. This role is will sit in of Austin, TX

 

Working with a high level of independence, the Senior Engineer I contributes to projects from concept through construction, providing technical leadership in the development of engineering designs, analyses, and deliverables. This role regularly interfaces with project managers, clients, and external partners, offering technical input, resolving design challenges, and supporting overall project execution. In addition, the Senior Engineer I plays a key role in mentoring and guiding junior engineers, supporting quality control efforts, and promoting adherence to applicable codes, standards, and best practices. The position serves as a critical step toward advanced technical leadership or future project management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Project Coordination & Technical Leadership

  • Lead and support engineering design and analysis tasks for discipline‑specific projects, applying sound engineering principles and professional judgment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other associates to ensure coordinated, accurate, and complete project deliverables.
  • Coordinate work across multidisciplinary teams and external partners to support project delivery from concept through construction.
  • Participate in client meetings, marketing pursuits, and proposal preparation, providing technical input and support as needed.

Quality & Professional Development

  • Develop, review, and refine engineering designs, plans, and calculations to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Review engineering work prepared by others for accuracy, constructability, and adherence to project standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, supporting skill development and consistent application of best practices.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (Master’s preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in discipline‑specific design and analysis.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in one or more: AutoCAD, Civil 3D; additional relevant software experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in drainage with a knowledge of ICPR and water districts

Communication and Organization

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to team members and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and contribute effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
