The Senior SOX Analyst is responsible for leading and managing CesiumAstro’s compliance with SOX 404 and Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR)in a highly regulated aerospace and government contracting environment. This role plays a key part in building and scaling a strong internal control program that supports audit readiness, disciplined growth, and public-company standards.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the design, documentation, and maintenance of internal controls supporting SOX 404 compliance.
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of business process and IT General Controls (ITGCs), in accordance with COSO and PCAOB standards.
  • Oversee SOX testing activities, including review of test plans, methodologies, and results to ensure operating effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain SOX program timelines, documentation standards, and compliance calendars.
  • Drive a risk-based approach to Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) in alignment with COSO and PCAOB standards.
  • Lead SOX risk assessments and scoping to identify key risk areas, significant accounts, and key controls.
     
  • Evaluate control deficiencies and determine severity.
  • Partner with process owners to develop and execute remediation plans and track progress.
  • Validate corrective actions and ensure sustainable remediation.
     
     
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors for SOX-related activities, including walkthroughs, testing, and issue resolution.
     
  • Oversee SOX compliance reporting for management, including quarterly and annual certifications and ICFR disclosures.
     
  • Ensure SOX documentation and deliverables meet audit and regulatory expectations.
  • Provide guidance to control owners on SOX requirements, control design, and documentation best practices.
  • Partner with FP&A, Program Management, Supply Chain, IT, and Operations to ensure effective design and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Support broader enterprise risk management (ERM) and governance initiatives, as needed.
  • Partner with Finance, IT, HR, Supply Chain, and Operations to assess the control impact of process changes, system upgrades, and new business initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on internal control best practices.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and subject-matter expert on SOX, ICFR, and audit readiness.


JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7-9 years of progressive SOX and external audit experience in Big 4 or national public accounting and/or a public company preferably within aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing, or IPO-ready environments.
  • 2–5 years of leadership or people management experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 and long-term contract accounting.
  • Experience working with enterprise ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or equivalent).
  • Experience with SOX or GRC tools (e.g., AuditBoard, Workiva).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of SOX 404 and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Experience in testing SOX business process controls and IT general controls.
  • Familiarity with COSO framework and PCAOB auditing standards.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and issue-resolution skills.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • CPA, or equivalent advanced certification.
