Senior Superintendent

Location:

Gordon Highlander is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to lead the successful delivery of complex commercial and industrial construction projects while mentoring and developing the next generation of field leaders. This is a leadership role for a seasoned construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds strong client relationships, and consistently delivers projects safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.


As a Senior Superintendent, you will oversee multiple commercial construction projects valued between $6 million and $12 million, providing leadership to project teams with minimal oversight. You'll play a critical role in maintaining our reputation for excellence while driving continuous improvement across our people, processes, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all field operations for multiple commercial construction projects from groundbreaking through completion
  • Manage projects valued in excess of $6 million, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules in collaboration with Project Managers
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
  • Maintain a safe jobsite by enforcing OSHA standards and Gordon Highlander's safety policies
  • Champion quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) throughout every phase of construction
  • Lead daily coordination meetings and maintain clear communication with clients, architects, consultants, and project teams
  • Identify project risks and proactively implement solutions to keep projects on track
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure successful field execution
  • Mentor Assistant Superintendents and Superintendents through Gordon Highlander's Leadership Competencies
  • Identify opportunities to improve field operations, project processes, and team performance
  • Build lasting client relationships through exceptional communication, professionalism, and service


Qualifications & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in commercial construction field operations
  • Degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred but not required
  • Proven experience managing commercial construction projects valued in excess of $6 million
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and project execution
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing field teams and subcontractors
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, jobsite safety, and quality control processes
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while processing a high volume of project information
  • Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Proficiency with construction technology, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience leading tenant improvement industrial and high-rise tenant construction projects
  • Experience with industrial, distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or commercial office construction
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience mentoring and developing field leadership teams
  • Procore and scheduling software experience (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar)
