| Job Description: | The Tableau Data Analyst (Data Analyst IV) designs, develops, implements and maintains the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) Tableau dashboards. This position is supervised by and reports to the Director of Statistical Analysis & Data Visualization (SADV) for Data Operations and performs highly complex (senior-level) data analysis and data research work to support program investigations, audits, and inspections related to suspected fraud, waste and abuse. The dashboards are used to track and monitor performance and metrics for the OIG. The Tableau Data Analyst leads collaboration of technology initiatives, builds and administers dashboards and graphics using Tableau and other related data visualization software. These dashboards are also used to conduct detailed analysis of and extensive research on Medicaid and other health and human services data and systems. The Tableau Data Analyst will support all OIG business areas with the objective of maximizing effective communications and business processes. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position requires experience using statistical software (e.g. SAS) and methods pertaining to health data analysis and/or public health issues. |
| Essential Job Functions: | Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs duties as assigned
Responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the OIG Tableau dashboards. Add/Delete/Modify user access permissions to Tableau dashboards. Regular review, cleanup, management and configuration of Tableau content and dashboards. Support and maintain software integration between Tableau and other in-house business applications. (40%)
Effectively train, troubleshoot and provide user support for Tableau dashboards. Monitor Tableau utilization trends. Work with other team members to develop user friendly front-end processes for accessing dashboards. Work with cross functional business areas to develop process improvements using Tableau and other data visualization software. Consults with management and makes recommendations for the most useful ways to integrate Tableau dashboards into OIG business practices. (30%)
Apply statistical techniques to datasets, and conduct custom analyses, with a strong emphasis on Tableau-driven insights. (15%)
Maintain operational documentation detailing technical environment, configuration and support processes for Tableau activities and dashboards. (10%)
Performs other duties necessary to achieve the mission of the Office of the Inspector General. Statewide travel of about 5% may be required. (5%)

Initial Screening Criteria |
Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university with major course work in public health epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or an acceptable field is required.
Graduate Master’s degree or PhD in related disciplines is preferred.
At least 2 years of experience designing and developing business intelligence dashboards using Tableau is required.
Experience with statistical data analysis, research, compilation, collection, and dissemination of large datasets is preferred.
Experience and high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel, is preferred.
