Project Engineer (Compliance)

About the RoleĀ 

Acts as a thought leader in the compliance area of expertise to improve and simplify processes, drive standardization and organization, and create scalable solutions that enable compliance in the Affiliate. Manages the activities of regulatory affairs andĀ ensureĀ regulatory compliance within the team.Ā 

Ā Ā 

KeyĀ ResponsibilitiesĀ 

For our new Energy business unit, we are looking for a Project Engineer (Compliance) to oversee all aspects of the permitting processesĀ requiredĀ for the construction and operation ofĀ an upcoming solar project.Ā The Compliance Manager will report to the Asset Manager (Spain) and Lead Project Manager (US).Ā The position will be located in Austin, TexasĀ with weekly travel to the project site.Ā 

Ā Ā 

- Lead the development and implementation of permitting strategies for the project, ensuringĀ timelyĀ acquisition of all required permits.Ā 

- Coordinate with the Project Manager, environmental teams, and legal counsel to ensure comprehensive compliance with environmental laws and other regulatory requirements.Ā 

- Manage relationships with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.Ā 

- Interact with all relevant stakeholders toĀ facilitateĀ the permitting process (E.g.Ā the County,Ā TXDOT).Ā 

- Prepare andĀ submitĀ permit applications,Ā monitorĀ their progress, and ensure any compliance issues.Ā 

- Manage and lead the development process in dynamic regulatory environments.Ā 

- Minimize the company's permitting risk and liability.Ā 

- Supervise the work of project environmental consultants, if / when needed.Ā 

- Develop strategies to mitigate environmental impact.Ā 

- Manage project schedules and budgets and ensureĀ qualityĀ of documents.Ā 

- Respond to internal and external environmental and permitting-related inquiries.Ā 

- Support Purchase Agreement bids, project financing, and third-party due diligence.Ā 

- Advise Project Manager and reports to senior management and project stakeholders – as neededĀ regardingĀ the environmental and overall permitting status of the project.Ā 

-Ā MaintainĀ up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes that could affect project permitting and adapt strategies accordingly.Ā 

- Conduct risk assessments related to permitting delays or denials andĀ developĀ mitigation strategies.Ā 

- Provide expert advice and guidance to project teams on all matters related to permitting and regulatory compliance.Ā

QualificationsĀ 

-Ā Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Law, orĀ a relatedĀ field. JD,Ā MBAĀ or other post-graduateĀ degreeĀ will be highly valued.Ā 

- +5 years of experience in permitting and regulatory compliance, specifically for renewable assets.Ā 

- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and guidelines in renewable energy.Ā 

-Ā DemonstratedĀ experience in developing projects throughoutĀ permittingĀ environments.Ā 

-Ā DemonstratedĀ experience interacting with government agencies at local, state, and federal levels.Ā 

- ExperienceĀ monitoringĀ compliance andĀ maintainingĀ rigorous documentation through the project lifecycle.Ā 

- Experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional and culturally diverse team environment.Ā
