Shift Supervisor Job Description
Reports to: General Manager/Department Manager
Job Summary:

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of the restaurant. Responsible for teaching, training, and leading all Team Members during each shift. Must always present a professional image. Must coach, counsel, and develop Team Members to maximize sales and profitability, control expenses, meet budgetary constraints, handle Guest complaints, and ensure sanitation, safety and food quality.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or High School equivalency required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of basic restaurant hospitality and fully engaged, service minded attitude
- Must possess valid Manager food safety certification or any other food/alcohol certification if required by state law
- Able to stand for 10 hours
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Good hearing for safety and accurate communication (with or without accommodation)
- Must be able to read, write and speak in English
- Must have reliable transportation
- Basic computer usage skills
- This position requires regular attendance
- Requires ability to tolerate significant changes in temperature, and frequent immersion of hands in water and cleaning or sanitizing solutions
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Compliance with our dress and appearance policy including black slip resistant shoes
Responsibilities and Duties
- This position requires attendance as scheduled and policy and procedure compliance.
- Ensures all Team Member training and development is done correctly and thoroughly to ensure retention and minimal turnover.
- Commitment to follow all internal monetary control measures, including, but not limited to: petty cash disbursement and accounting procedures, deposit monies, banking procedures, check writing and register balance.
- Commitment to follow all internal product control measures, including: food and liquor inventories, purchases and loss prevention measures (steak counts, high cost item sheets, etc).
- Responsible for all processes including line checks, food safety, opening and closing walkthroughs
- Responsible for safety of team member and guests.
- Upholds standards and policies throughout shifts.
- Has authority to make shift adjustments to maintain standards and ensure safe operations.
- Protects brand assets and maintains ownership of keys, safe codes, deposits at all times.
- Demonstrates 100% commitment to the cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all front and back of house areas, including: service stations, bar, office, walk in, dry storage and dishwashing areas.
- Assumes 100% responsibility that all receiving is physically accounted for at the price quoted for. (if applicable)
- Commitment to operate the kitchen within the means of its budget provided with Quality comes 1st approach.
- Works with the kitchen Team Members to assure 100% quality in our food product 100% of the time.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and development of their Team Members and responsible for ensuring that each person is treated with dignity and respect. The Shift Supervisor reports directly to the General Manager.
