POSITION SUMMARY:
This position assists in planning, some managing, and implementing of all sports and teens programs andÂ
activities. Assists and participates in marketing and special events. Ensures day-to-day programÂ
operations are delivered in accordance with operating standards for quality and safety. Assists inÂ
interviewing, scheduling and supervising qualified staff. Supports branch leadership in theÂ
implementation of the annual campaign.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ï‚· Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing programÂ
activities, establishing new program activities. Assists in the marketing and distribution ofÂ
program information.
ï‚· Builds effective, authentic relationships with children and their parents. Develop and maintainÂ
relationship with parents group, other agencies related to program areas.
ï‚· Supervise employees in assigned accountabilities, monitor program operation, scheduling andÂ
verify time sheets and actual hours worked.Â
ï‚· Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed at all times,Â
specifically the association’s child protection policies, child abuse and neglect guidelines, andÂ
proper reporting procedures.
ï‚· Organizes disinfect and puts away, all program materials. Reports damaged materials and takeÂ
them out of circulation.
ï‚· Demonstrates a working knowledge of YMCA mission, values, purpose, and goals. Strives for theÂ
highest standards of program excellence.
ï‚· Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
ï‚· High school diploma required.Â
Experience:Â
ï‚· Minimum of one (1) year of related experience working in a youth programing environmentÂ
ï‚· Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experienceÂ
Certification(s) & Requirements:
ï‚· CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.Â
ï‚· Within 30 days of hire, completion of YMCA program-specific and Operational trainings.Â
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
ï‚· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adequate speaking, hearing and writing skillsÂ
appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
ï‚· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people (children and parents) from all social andÂ
economic segments of the community.
ï‚· Knowledge and maturity to observe children’s behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforceÂ
appropriate safety practices and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behaviormanagement techniques.
ï‚· Ability to manage the daily administrative, program-related and supervisory responsibilities of aÂ
sports program.
ï‚· Demonstrated ability to engage in all functions associated with the daily care, activities, andÂ
routines of program’s children.
ï‚· Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
ï‚· Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.Â
ï‚· Ability to work effectively work with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions andÂ
perceptions
ï‚· Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse andÂ
neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process:Â
completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective servicesÂ
(696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management andÂ
human resources department (s).
